Uzès is a medieval town in proximity to Arlès, Nîmes and Avignon in the Gard region of France. 17th-18th century mansions line the maze of little lanes and shaded squares with cafes and restaurants which sprawl out onto their terraces- perfect for a refreshing beverage before visiting this pretty town.
-Shop on the Saturday morning market at Place aux Herbs
-Visit the medieval garden next to Place aux Herbs. There are 450 varieties of edible, culinary, ornamental and medicinal plants used in medieval times. Admire the contemporary art and climb the 100 steps of the King Tower for fabulous views over Uzès
–Gothic chapel with beautiful stained glass windows
–Louis XVIII – XVI apartments furnished with woodwork, chandeliers, tapestries and paintings
-Climb the Bermonde Tower: a primitive keep from the 11th century with views over Uzès
–The 18th century town hall. Its southern façade is ornamented with pilasters and its inner courtyard is a venue for concerts during summer
-Visit the 1870’s neo-Romanesque Saint-Théodroit Cathedral and see one of the oldest organs in France from 1670
–The Uzès Tower has the only cylindrical bell tower in France
–Bishop’s Palace: now the tribunal and the Geoges Borias Museum which displays the history of Uzès from prehistoric times to present
–Eure valley: Lovely shaded spot for picnics, a fitness trail, playground, football pitch and the draining basin for the Roman aqueduct that supplies water to Nîmes
-Visit The Brasserie Artisanale Meduz and have a taste
-Visit Nîmes, Avignon and the Pont du Gard
-National Stud Farm of Uzès for horse lovers
